Tutoring from a Critical Lens: 3 Elements that Make an Effective Literacy Tutor
I fully conceptualized and developed this training as an Independent Study project to provide essential, community-focused preparation to university student tutors participating in the America Reads program at the University of Michigan. This workshop aims to provide tutors with the skills to engage in self-reflection, critically assess representation in children’s literature and utilize Culturally Responsive Teaching pedagogies.
